The OnePlus 10 Pro's early debut will not help the majority of purchasers

It nearly seemed as if OnePlus was preparing to take on Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer. The OnePlus 10 Pro was rumored to share some design DNA with the Galaxy S22, and it was also said that the phone would be released around the same time as Samsung’s announcement. While the latter portion may be correct, new evidence reveals that it will have little impact on Samsung’s markets because the early OnePlus 10 launch will be limited to only one person.

According to a previous rumor, the OnePlus 10 series would be released in late January or early February. This places it between the Galaxy S21 FE, which is scheduled to be unveiled on January 4, and the Galaxy S22, which is expected to be unveiled on February 8. However, it appears that the rest of the world will have to wait much longer, at least until OnePlus releases a global model.

According to Max Jambor of AllAboutSamsung, the OnePlus 10 Pro will be restricted to China when it launches in January or February. The phone’s global release isn’t scheduled until March or April, providing the Chinese market with exclusive access to the device over two months.

While brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo have used this tactic in the past, it’s a first for OnePlus. The business has largely launched its phones concurrently in worldwide markets, or at the very least, has not given Chinese customers special treatment. Some OnePlus supporters regard this surprising development as one of the company’s most significant indicators of change.

OnePlus’ practical merger with its distant relative OPPO is largely responsible for these changes. The two companies have openly joined their software development and research and development teams, but it won’t be shocking if there’s more to it. The OnePlus 10 Pro’s anticipated 125W charging capability could be another example of how the two companies are exchanging technologies.

The “unified OS” that will debut on the OnePlus 10 will combine the OnePlus OxygenOS user experience with OPPO’s ColorOS internals, causing the delay. According to rumors, the unified OS won’t be ready until February. ColorOS has long been used on OnePlus phones in China, so there’s no reason why the OnePlus 10 Pro shouldn’t launch there first, even if it means the rest of the world would have to wait.
