While many fans have chastised Marvel’s Avengers for its heavy reliance on microtransactions, developer Crystal Dynamics recently introduced a new mechanism that allows players to gain outfits without spending real money. The brand-new Shipments system works similarly to a typical loot box, with the exception that players are shown exactly what they’ll get when they buy it. Shipments can also be purchased with Units, which can be earned simply by playing the game, rather than Credits, which can be purchased with real-world money. This allows players to gain cosmetic goods just by playing the game. However, some products, like MCU uniforms, remain exclusive to the Marketplace.
Marvel‘s Avengers has never really recovered from its shaky launch in 2020, but Crystal Dynamics appears dedicated to listening to fans and improving the game. MCU skins have been a popular request for months, and their attention to detail and fidelity to the live-action series does not disappoint.
