Vampire: The Masquerade Game Jam Will Let Anyone Make A VtM Game

Fans of Vampire: The Masquerade can enter the forthcoming Vampire Jam contest to earn $1,000 if they create a game set in the World of Darkness.

Video game developers worldwide will soon have the opportunity to enter the World of Darkness, as the next Vampire Jam tournament will allow participants to create a game set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, with the winner receiving a cash reward. Even though Vampire: The Masquerade is one of the most successful tabletop RPGs globally, many people are more familiar with video games based on the IP than the source material.

Following the fifteen-year hiatus between Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines and Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York, there has been a rush of new Vampire: The Masquerade video games in recent years. Vampire: The Masquerade visual novels are now available on current systems, making it easier than ever for gamers to experience the World of Darkness. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is a battle royale game that is presently available in Early Access on PC and will be released on current-gen consoles soon.

People who wish to make the next Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines will soon be able to do so, especially since Bloodlines 2 isn’t expected to be released anytime soon. World of Darkness has introduced a new contest called Vampire Jam. From October 30 to November 30, contestants must build a game set in the setting of Vampire: The Masquerade. There are no genre or scope restrictions as long as the project is finished within the deadline. On the official Itch.io website, entrants can apply to join the Vampire Jam.

Entrants must adhere to specific regulations to participate in the Vampire Jam. The game must occur in the universe of the current edition of Vampire: The Masquerade, which implies that retconned aspects from previous games (such as the Kuei-Jin) are prohibited. It’s conceivable to incorporate ideas from other World of Darkness games, such as Hunter: The Reckoning’s hunters, but the game should focus on vampires. Creators are free to use characters from the World of Darkness universe, including those from L.A. By Night, but they are not permitted to use content from the Vampire: The Masquerade video games. Those that enter can do so as a solo effort or as part of a team, and they can utilize whatever game engine they want. The Dark Park logo (accessible on the Itchi.io website) must appear on one of the game’s opening screens, and the game must be submitted to Itchi.io for free, with no monetization.

The contest winner will earn $1,000, and their game will be added to the World of Darkness games on Steam, making it an official part of the franchise. The second-place winner will receive $750, and the third-place winner will receive $500. Every three winners will receive pdf copies of all World of Darkness books released to date, as well as early access to Hunter: The Reckoning – 5th Edition and Vampire: The Masquerade: Second Inquisition.

From October 31 to November 30, 2021, the Vampire: The Masquerade Vampire Jam competition will take place.
