The OnePlus Buds Z2 Are They Waterproof? What You Should Know Before Making a Purchase

The OnePluds Buds Z2 is a fantastic set of headphones. For $99. they have ANC, a 38-hour battery, and more. Is waterproofing, however, a consideration?

Waterproofing is one of the most important qualities of any wireless headphones, but does the OnePlus Buds Z2 have it? Since the debut of the original OnePlus One in April 2014, OnePlus has grown from obscurity to become one of the most well-known consumer technology brands. Today, the firm sells high-end and low-cost smartphones and wearables and televisions.

Wireless earbuds are another product segment that OnePlus has entered. The OnePlus Buds, the company’s first attempt, was met with mixed reviews. However, with each succeeding version, OnePlus’s earbud formula has improved. For $49. the OnePlus Buds Z provides an excellent listening experience. The OnePlus Buds Pro has all of the flagship features of the AirPods Pro and Galaxy Buds Pro for a fraction of the price. And, most recently, the OnePlus Buds Z2 offers ANC and long battery life for just $99.

The Buds Z2 are, in many ways, OnePlus’ most intriguing earphone combo to date. For $50 cheaper, they manage to give almost 90% of the OnePlus Buds Pro experience. Does that 90 percent, however, include proper waterproofing? The OnePlus Buds Z2 is dust and water-resistant to IP55 standards. This means the earphones are protected from dust, which could otherwise cause them to malfunction. The Buds Z2 is also protected against low-pressure water streams thanks to its IP55 classification. As a result, the OnePlus Buds Z2 are not waterproof and should not be submerged in water. Splashes and brief rinses, on the other hand, are perfectly acceptable. ‘Water-resistant,’ not ‘waterproof,’ is the essential phrase here.

A Water-Resistant Case Is Also Included With The OnePlus Buds Z2

The bundled charging case is also water-resistant, with an IPX4 rating, in addition to the earphones’ IP55 classification. The case’s IPX4 designation protects it from light water splashes, but that’s it. It doesn’t have the same level of resistance to pressurized streams of water as the actual earphones, and it also doesn’t have any official dust resistance. While the lower rating is disappointing, it’s worth noting that many earphones in this price range don’t include a water-resistant charging case. It’s worth praising OnePlus for including it at all.

While the OnePlus Buds Z2 are not waterproof, they have good water resistance. The earbuds are resistant to dust, sweat, and water splashes and can even be cleaned with a fast rinse in the sink. The case isn’t as well-protected, but it does provide some water resistance. That’s a really good deal for $99 wireless earphones, and it just goes to show how much OnePlus packed into the Buds Z2.
