Given the ongoing global chip shortage, Samsung’s ability to release so many devices at such a rapid pace is almost miraculous. Of course, it can’t do so indefinitely as long as that condition persists, and its next round of devices may finally feel the pinch. There have already been some discouraging speculations about the Galaxy S21 FE, which may still be released in January, as well as some serious concerns about select Galaxy S22 variants. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra appears to be another casualty, but this time from a new type of supply and production issue.
The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultrasounds are almost too fantastic to be true. It appears to be on track to beat Apple to market with a large-screen professional tablet that could replace a laptop at least in size. According to speculations, a 14.6-inch OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rates will be used to do this.
Unfortunately, that same selling point may also be the reason for the tablet’s early demise. According to a rumour from South Korea, That display has a low yield rate and disproportionately high production costs. In other words, if Samsung produced a large number of such displays, it would lose money rather than generate money.
That is reportedly why Samsung would reduce the number of Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra units produced, at least according to the rumour. Worse, the corporation is rumoured to halt production as soon as the initial supply runs out. The production forecast for what may be a game-changing tablet is not promising.
The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is expected to have 12GB of RAM and a massive 12,000 mAh battery. The high-end slate is also the ideal testbed for an Exynos 2200 with AMD rDNA graphics technology, which could explain why it’s so hard to come by. The Galaxy Tab S8 tablets were supposed to be released this year, but due to a processor shortage and production challenges, they may instead appear in February alongside the Galaxy S22 phones.
