After a cloud gaming ad, the Xbox Game Pass for Cyberpunk 2077 was denied

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass despite its presence in a recent Xbox Cloud Gaming promo.

Although CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 was featured in a recent Cloud Gaming ad, the company has stated that an Xbox Game Pass release for the role-playing game is not in the works. Microsoft announced Xbox Cloud Gaming for Xbox One and Series X|S earlier this week, allowing customers to stream games straight to their consoles. Because Xbox One owners may now stream Series X|S games, this is an extremely interesting move in the company’s Cloud Gaming ambition.

The cloud service’s beta for PC, formerly known as Project xCloud, first launched a little over a year ago in September 2020. Microsoft launched the service in over quarter-dozen nations, with more than 150 titles available right away. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate customers now have access to Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC and consoles, significantly expanding the reach of the streaming service. Of course, the Cloud Gaming console was accompanied by a trailer, and footage of Cyberpunk 2077 at the 18-second point of the trailer sparked a flurry of speculation.

Due to a brief glimpse of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay in the Xbox above Cloud Gaming promo, Reddit users and internet investigators speculated that the CD Projekt Red title would soon be included in Game Pass. When you consider that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is required for Cloud Gaming, the idea isn’t that far-fetched. However, according to the website VGC, the Polish developer studio has no intentions to release Cyberpunk 2077 on Microsoft’s Game Pass programme. In response to the article, a CDPR spokesman stated, “There are no Game Pass plans for Cyberpunk 2077.”

As a result, it appears that Cyberpunk 2077’s short glimmer in the Cloud Gaming trailer is of little relevance. However, both current and potential newcomers to Xbox Game Pass will find much to enjoy. Mortal Shell, a Cold Symmetry-developed Soulslike that tackles the genre differently, is one of the November 2021 additions to the subscription platform.

Game Pass has proven to be a game-changer in more ways than one since its launch in the summer of 2017. Several big-name AAA games, such as People Can Fly’s Outriders and Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood, have debuted on the service on day one this year. Given the day-and-date release of Halo Infinite on December 8, Xbox Game Pass will certainly see an increase in members next month.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
