Bloodborne Reimagined As a Cartoon Is an Unexpectedly Perfect Match

What if Bloodborne was made into an animated series? One skilled animator decided to test the waters with a gorgeous trailer.

One creative artist chose to imagine what FromSoftware’s Bloodborne would look like as an animated series, and the results are stunning. Bloodborne’s gothic horror aesthetic is one of its most charming features. From the lighting and ambiance to the horrific violence and Victorian-inspired setting, this FromSoftware masterpiece is in a class by itself.

The more talented fan community members express their gratitude in various ways, creating various sorts of art that circulate online regularly. VaatiVidya, a popular Soulsborne YouTuber, for example, crowdfunded a fan art book on Kickstarter, which swiftly surpassed its initial financial goal. Mods and demakes continue to impress, owing to community members always looking for ways to improve the existing experience. And a stunning Bloodborne canvas painting released by an artist over the summer made everyone yearn for another trip to the Hunter’s Dream. What happens, though, when the good Hunter wanders into the world of animation?

In a video titled “What if Bloodborne was an Animated Series?” YouTuber AJBTime investigated the possibilities. The posed question is discussed in the 26-second film, AJBTime depicts a “parody teaser” for a Bloodborne cartoon. The artist mentioned Genndy Tartakovsky’s works as inspiration, particularly in the Samurai Jack-esque animation style. All of the music and sound effects in the teaser were also pulled directly from Bloodborne, ensuring a viewing experience that is as close to form as possible. AJBTime’s efforts do a great job selling the concept that this renowned PS4 exclusive would become an excellent animated series. See the complete video below:

The influence of Tartakovsky’s award-winning works was delicately injected into the visual core of Bloodborne by AJBTime. The scary creatures and blood-soaked mayhem are still present, but with a colorful flair that strangely fits nicely inside the limitations of FromSoftware’s dark and grim world. So would it bother anyone if PlayStation Production undertook such a project?

While it may appear odd that Bloodborne will return in animated form, speculations of a sequel and a PC port continue to circulate. Following Sony’s studio acquisition, one rumor is that Bluepoint Games may bring Bloodborne back to life. And the recently released PC edition of God of War appears to lend validity to speculations that the 2015 Soulsborne entry would follow suit.

Bloodborne is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
