What is a local user account and why do you need them?

A local user account is essentially a discrete operating system instance with its own configurations, applications, and, most importantly, specific administrative permissions.

In other words, as the system administrator, you can set up several local accounts for several users while also limiting their ability to manage certain resources.

You may, for instance, forbid them from installing apps or impose restrictions. This is crucial when you create a local account for your children or other family members.

It is therefore, better to have a separate account for each family member if you share a computer. Everyone will have their own privacy, and you will prevent clutter.

To clear some space when purchasing a second computer, you must remove that person’s account from the first one. You’ll see how to do that in the guide below.

What is the difference between a Microsoft account and a local account?

By logging in with a Microsoft account, you may access all the connected Microsoft services, including Outlook, the Microsoft Store, Xbox, Hotmail, and OneDrive.

All the settings will be maintained in your online account so that if you choose to work on another computer, you may access them after logging in, eliminating the need for you to log in separately to each of those services.

How can I easily remove a user in Windows 11?

    1. Make sure Windows 11 has you logged in as an administrator.
    2. Select Settings after clicking the Windows button.
    3. Select Family and other users from the right after selecting the Accounts option on the left.
    4. Click on the person you wish to delete in the Other user’s area, in this case, WindowsReport, to expand it.
    5. To erase it, click the Remove button.
    6. Click the Delete account and data option after that.
    7. To access File Manager, press the Windows key and E.
    8. Double-click on the C: drive after selecting This PC.
    9. Double-click the Users folder after that.
    10. In our example, WindowsReport, right-click on the user account folder that you wish to delete and choose the Delete option.

It’s crucial to understand that you must also delete the user’s profile folder in addition to the user’s account in the Computer Management panel.

You will create a ton of space as a result of doing this. Use the procedures mentioned above to complete the process quickly; it’s rather simple to do so.

How do I remove a Microsoft account from Windows 11?

First of all, you should be aware that if you don’t already have another Microsoft or local account with administrative rights set up on the computer, you cannot delete a Microsoft account from it.

Therefore, you will need to create a local account if the account you’re attempting to delete is the only one on your computer.

Create a local account

      1. Select Settings from the Windows menu by clicking on it.
      2. Select Accounts from the left-hand menu, then click Family & other users on the right-hand side.
      3. Click the Add account option after glancing down at the Other user’s section.
      4. Select I don’t have this person’s login details.
      5. Select A user without a Microsoft account can be added.
      6. You must now finish the username. A password can be added, but it’s not required. The user will just enter their credentials by pressing the Enter key if the password fields are left empty.
      7. The account was established; as you can see in our screenshot, however it is an ordinary account thus we need to convert it to an administrator account.
      8. Select “Change account type” from the menu.
      9. Click the Administrator radio button in the following window’s Standard User field, then click OK.

        3. Click the Remove option down below after selecting the account you want to delete.
        4. Select the Delete account and data button in the following window. Once more, doing this will delete all of that user’s data from your computer, so if there is any data you need from that account, stop now and make a backup first.

How do I change my Microsoft account on Windows 11?

            1. Simply click the Windows button, then login, and then another Microsoft or local account if you want to swap.
            2. Now just select the username from the list that you wish to use to log in.

            5. Finally, you can select Manage my accounts from the Accounts section below to launch a browser and access the Microsoft account login page.

What can I do if I lost the password to my account?

After your initial Microsoft account login, you are prompted to generate a PIN code. Even though you can also use letters and symbols like a standard password, it’s far simpler to log in with that.

You can select the I forgot my PIN option just below the login form if you can’t remember your PIN code.

A window where you must enter your Microsoft account password will appear when you click it. However, you can select the Forget password? Option if you also forgot that one.

Now, you must select the Get code button and enter the email address associated with your Microsoft account.

When you get an email with a five-digit code, click the “I have a code” option and type it into the field.

You can modify your password and PIN once you’ve logged into your account by selecting the settings under Settings > Accounts, as seen in the screenshot below.

Windows 11 didn’t significantly alter the process for deleting a user account, and we hope that our explanation made it obvious how to do it.

To ensure that you never lose access to your system, you now also know how to retrieve your Microsoft account password and PIN.

The only remaining alternative, which means you will lose all of your system’s data, is to reset your system to factory settings if you can’t even access your email.

Because of this, we advise storing your Microsoft account password securely on a different computer or even written down on a piece of paper in a safe place.
