Optoma UHZ50 laser projector offers true 4K and enhanced gaming mode

Optoma has announced its new UHZ50 Smart 4K UHD projector, intended for gaming and home entertainment. The projector boasts several noteworthy characteristics, including “real” 4K resolution at 60Hz, a 1080p option at 240Hz, and a 4ms response time. Thanks to a specific Enhanced Gaming mode, the model is appropriate for both gamers and home entertainment enthusiasts.

The new Optoma UHZ50 is meant for serious home entertainment installations, so it’s no surprise that the model comes with a hefty $2,799 price tag. Those willing to part with the cash will receive a laser projector with several connectors, HDR and HLG support, a 2,500,000:1 contrast ratio, 3,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, and a laser light source that can last up to 30,000 hours of projection time.

Two USB ports are included for connecting media devices, two HDMI 2.0 connections (an eARC version), and HDCP 2.2 support. The UHZ50 boasts two built-in 10-watt speakers. However, most buyers will undoubtedly utilise a soundbar or other higher-end audio systems. Apart from that, Optoma claims that its projector is meant to operate quietly at 26dB.

Vertical lens shift, 1.3x zoom, and four corner correction are all included in the projector, making it easier to set up and ensuring that the projected image appears correctly. With DCI-P3 coverage, Optoma claims “excellent colour accuracy,” as well as a specific gaming variant for connecting a console or PC.
