Even after Blizzard claimed connectivity issues had been resolved multiple times, Diablo 2: Resurrected servers are down and have been for days.
The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing has filed a lawsuit against Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard, alleging that the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has refuted the allegations. As new information becomes available, the full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are updated.
Diablo 2: Resurrected server connection issues have persisted since last week, despite developer Blizzard acknowledging and allegedly fixing the problem. When Diablo 2: Resurrected was finally announced earlier this year, it came as a shock. Diablo 4’s release date is still unknown, and Diablo Immortal’s mobile game has been postponed until 2022, so the Diablo 2 remaster will be released in 2021.
Fortunately, the remaster of the series’ debatable fan favourite entry fared far better than Blizzard’s previous remaster attempt, Warcraft 3: Reforged, which was panned by critics and players alike. Meanwhile, Diablo 2: Resurrected has received positive reviews from both groups, with players flocking back to the revamped classic. It not only brings the game up to date with improved visuals and gameplay, but it also keeps the old-school Diablo 2 intact – for better or worse. But, unfortunately, the dungeon crawler hasn’t had an easy time since its release.
Blizzard Customer Support provided an update on the ongoing Diablo 2: Resurrected server outage on Monday morning via Twitter. Unfortunately, the news is still wrong, as the studio stated that it was still looking into the problem and thanked the game’s community for their patience. This comes after the studio performed emergency maintenance over the weekend and appeared to have fixed the issues twice before. The most recent Blizzard tweet didn’t specify when players can expect to play again, so it seems that servers are still down as of this writing.

It’s unclear why Diablo 2: Resurrected servers are down, and the fact that two studios handle the game may be complicating matters. Vicarious Visions, a Blizzard studio that previously worked on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 before being absorbed by the Diablo publisher, is responsible for the game’s front-end and actual client. Blizzard is in charge of Diablo 2: Resurrected’s backend, which includes servers and Battle.net integration. For the time being, players will have to wait for the studio’s next update on the situation.
Unfortunately, Diablo 2 is still having server issues nearly a month after its release. It is even more regrettable that logins have been impossible for several days after they were first reported and supposedly fixed. However, this isn’t the first time players have encountered server-related issues with the game, as a previous outage caused affected users’ Diablo 2: Resurrected characters to vanish. Hopefully, Vicarious and Blizzard will pinpoint the server issues and permanently fix them as soon as possible.
Diablo 2: Resurrected is available for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
