With both Peter and Miles appearing in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, one fan speculates that the web-slingers may cross paths while free-roaming in New York City.
Players believe Peter Parker and Miles Morales should cross paths while free-roaming in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and possibly jump in to assist each other during random criminal busts. According to the first Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 teaser unveiled at last month’s PlayStation Showcase, the planned sequel to Insomniac’s smash open-world superhero extravaganza will feature Peter and Miles working together to take down New York’s criminal element as well as terrifying new villains like Venom.
Players in 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man could control various characters, including Miles and Mary Jane. However, most of the game was still focused on Peter – Miles didn’t get his spider-powers until late in the game, and even then, he never used them save for a post-credits surprise. Although Peter would be largely absent from the plot due to being on a journalism assignment with Mary Jane by the time Miles took up the mantle of Spider-Man in the 2020 spin-off Spider-Man: Miles Morales, there was still a small hint of what two currently active Spider-Men would play like during a boss battle with the Rhino at the beginning.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 appears to be close to realizing that potential and fans are already speculating about how Insomniac might approach Peter and Miles’ regular interactions in the upcoming game.
According to Game Rant, Reddit member PineappleTargaryen posted an interesting concept to r/SpidermanPS4 a few days ago for Peter and Miles to run into each other when free-roaming in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. They also mention that whatever Spidey the player isn’t controlling at the time could intervene if they’re near a random crime, prompting one user to note out that a similar option was included in the very acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2.

There isn’t much known about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, other than that it will be “huge” in scale and have a darker plot than Insomniac’s previous two superhero adventures. Fans have already begun to speculate on how Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 might expand on the franchise’s gameplay and lore, with some assuming that the game might introduce Spider-Gwen or include Venom’s classic immunity to Peter’s Spider-Sense during the inevitable boss battle with the symbiotic menace.
Both Peter and Miles appear to be on active Spider-Man duty in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, so having the two meet up. At the same time, free-roaming could lead to interesting character interactions, such as the heroes calling out to each other mid-web swing or perching on top of a building for a quick chat. In any case, when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on the PlayStation 5 in 2023, fans can expect to see Peter and Miles partner together.
