Recreates a Minecraft Build Theed City from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

The iconic and enormous Theed City from Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace is replicated in an incredible Minecraft build-in-progress.

A Minecraft player is creating a remarkably accurate reproduction of Theed City from The Phantom Menace within the game. This is the latest in a long line of highly complicated and precisely designed crossover projects in Minecraft, with a tribute to Toby Fox’s Undertale being the most recent example.

Minecraft is a game that requires a little introduction; as a genre-defining crafting game, it provides players with an almost limitless array of tools and mechanics with which to achieve their wildest fantasies. Minecraft users will frequently use the game’s basic building blocks, decor, and terraforming capabilities to recreate buildings, cities, and other locales from well-known intellectual properties. Minecraft maps have been created using instantly identifiable places from various video games, movies, TV series, and comic books, resulting in a diverse assortment of unique and magnificent creations.

This work-in-progress by player vistachess is guaranteed to please Star Wars fans. vistachess released two photographs of their ongoing build of Theed City, the capital of the planet of Naboo featured prominently in 1999’s The Phantom Menace, in a Reddit thread. The construction is similar to the recent Minecraft Venice tribute in that it features gorgeous landscapes and dramatic, breathtaking architectural works. Unlike the Italian sculpture, vistachess’s piece is far more fanciful and science-fiction-inspired, with huge, alien-like constructions perched atop sheer cliff edges.

The photographs are as striking as the most impressive Minecraft towns because of the union of magnificent unearthly nature and utopian cityscapes. While the fidelity may not be as great as renderings of Theed City onscreen or in other video games such as Star Wars Battlefront II, the dedication to preserving the spirit and feel of the mythical city in a pseudo-8-bit aesthetic is nonetheless a marvel to witness, even if just for the sake of novelty. It’s worth noting that vistachess has mentioned that the project is still in progress so that the end outcome could be even more stunning.

This introduction into the world of ambitious Minecraft towns is just more proof of how brilliant these players are and how much value they can provide to Minecraft enthusiasts worldwide. Even if someone isn’t a fan of The Phantom Menace, they will be blown away by this masterpiece.

Minecraft is accessible on all platforms right now.
