Minecraft Players Ambush Friend With Surprise In-Game Birthday Party

When a Minecraft player in lockdown logged into the game, they discovered their friends had planned a surprise birthday party for them.

On their birthday, a Minecraft player stuck in lockdown logged into the game to find their friends had gathered to throw them a surprise party. Minecraft has remained massively popular for the past 12 years, thanks to its seemingly infinite procedurally generated world and various game modes that cater to various play styles.

Developer Mojang has continued to update the sandbox game, with the most recent update, “Caves & Cliffs: Part 1,” bringing a slew of new content in the form of new blocks, mobs, and items for players to enjoy. While “Part 2” of the update is still in the works, it’s also been reported that Mojang is working on two new Minecraft games, both of which are unrelated to the main game and Minecraft Dungeons.

Due to lockdowns, Reddit user QuanWick posted screenshots of their surprise birthday party, which took place in their Minecraft world. The Redditor’s friends had meticulously decorated the party room with colorful candles, and ribbon-like twisting vines hung from the ceiling. The pile of different coloured glazed terracotta blocks cleverly topped with amethyst buds, making the blocks look like boxes of presents wrapped with a bow, was even more impressive. Most importantly, QuanWick’s friends remembered to include the most important component of any birthday party, a cake, as well as some cookies to help commemorate the occasion.

As one Redditor quickly pointed out, the entire room was adorned with numerous wall decorations in the form of nether stars and ender crystals. The nether star is a key component in crafting a beacon in Minecraft. Still, it isn’t easy to come by because it’s only dropped after defeating the Wither, a formidable three-headed boss. QuanWick, a seasoned Minecraft player, explained that their friends had taken the nether stars from a farm that the Redditor had built because the party hosts were too new to the game to take on the Wither or even understand the nether star’s true purpose.

During global lockdowns, multiplayer video games have become a great way for players to stay connected, as well as a great place for friends to gather while remaining safe. For example, a couple recently decided to celebrate their wedding anniversary on Animal Crossing, and the festivities took a hilarious turn when an NPC crashed the party. QuanWick’s surprise birthday party is a touching example of how friendships have evolved to endure with the help of video games.

Minecraft is a game that can be played on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS devices.
