Life is Strange: True Colors Update Adds 60FPS Mode On PS5, Xbox Series X

Life is Strange: True Colors has received a new patch that adds a 60fps mode to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions.

Patch #3 for Life is Strange: True Colors is now available on PS5 and Xbox One X, and it includes a mode that allows for frame rates of up to 60 frames per second. True Colors, developed by Deck Nine and published by Square Enix, was released a little over a month ago, introducing Life is Strange fans and newcomers to a new setting and cast of characters.

Deck Nine’s improved storytelling chops and a wide range of gameplay improvements helped LiS: True Colors receive positive reviews across the board and resounding praise from the franchise’s longtime fans. Players take on the role of Alex Chen, an empath who, after years apart, relocates to a small town in Colorado to live with her brother, Gabe. Tragic events occur quickly, forcing Alex to rely on newfound allies to uncover several disturbing truths. However, while the story and characters received widespread praise, True Colors’ overall performance lacked polish, as evidenced by widespread reports of frame rate drops. Nevertheless, deck Nine’s crew appears to have recently set their sights on achieving this goal.

Life is Strange: True Colors’ Patch #3 for PS5, and Xbox Series X was released today, October 4. According to a Square Enix blog post, the third update for Google Stadia, PC, and PS4 will arrive on October 6. High Resolution and High-Performance modes are introduced in the new patch for PS5 and Series X, with the latter allowing players to play at up to 60 frames per second. In addition, “Achievements/Trophies for all collectibles [will] now be awarded retroactively when reaching the Title screen on launch or when loading a different save file” for players on all platforms.

Given the patch’s newness, how well the Life is Strange: True Colors 60fps mode runs on PS5 and Xbox Series X platforms remain to be seen. The resolution at which the 60fps mode runs is still a mystery as of this writing. However, all of this and more should become clear in the not-too-distant future.

Deck Nine has also released True Colors’ Wavelengths DLC, a prequel episode starring Steph Gingrich, in addition to performance and bug fixes. The DLC is included in the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions, and those who already own True Colors can get the prequel starring Steph for $12.99.
