This is the Apple 2021 iPhone range: Launch pricing and comparisons

Today’s unveiling of the iPhone 13 changed Apple’s current 2021 collection of iPhone devices. At the end of 2021, the iPhone SE is still the lowest-end smartphone in Apple’s iPhone line. The iPhone 13 starts at $699, and the iPhone 13 Pro starts at $999. It follows the iPhone 11 at $499 and the iPhone 12 at $599.

iPhone 13 and iPhone mini

The iPhone 13 mini is the most miniature version of the iPhone 13. It has a 5.4-inch display and will be powered by the iPhone 13. The displays are nearly identical to the iPhone 12’s predecessors. However, the notch at its head is smaller than on iPhone 13. Apple will sell the 2020 iPhone SE despite all odds!

These iPhone 13 devices share the same camera set, both front and back. Both the back-facing cameras have 12MP each, one Wide and one Ultra Wide. These cameras are identical to their predecessors but have a few extra features that allow for video capture.

The iPhone 13 features “Cinematic mode”, which is not available on the iPhone 12. The iPhone 13 can record 4K video at 60fps, while the iPhone 12 can only record 4K at 30fps. The battery life of the iPhone 13 is very similar to the iPhone 12, with a quoted “up to 19 hours” of video playback, compared to iPhone 12’s “up to 17 hours”.

The iPhone 13 mini and the iPhone 13 will be available in 128GB and 256GB versions, respectively. All iPhone 13 models are IP68 water-resistant (max depth 6 m, maximum time 30 mins) and comply with IEC standard 60529.

The iPhone 13 mini will start at USD 699. The iPhone 13 (non-mini) will start at USD 799. These two devices will be available in Blue (black), Midnight (black), Starlight(white adjacent), (PRODUCT RED) and PINK. This is an entirely different product than what was available a few years back. See our iPhone 11 Review, which was published in 2019.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Max

The most significant differences between the iPhone 12 Pro & iPhone 13 Pro are the display size and their ProMotion (120Hz refresh rate) capabilities. The iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max display similar to their predecessors but come with ProMotion. They can also refresh images at 120Hz, which is the same as an iPad Pro.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max had slightly different camera capabilities. However, the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max have identical cameras and features. It won’t matter much for too long, as Apple soon will stop selling any “Pro”, other than the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max. To find an older iPhone “Pro”, you’ll have to go to authorized resellers.

All iPhone 12 Pro and 13 models have LiDAR. The iPhone 12 Pro Max battery had a life expectancy of 20 hours of video playback. The new iPhone 13 Pro Max is quoted to have a maximum of 28 hours.

iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max both have three 12MP cameras. One each for wide-angle, telephoto and ultra-wide lenses. Telephoto lenses have an aperture of f/2.8, with a wide aperture of f/1.5 and ultra-wide apertures at f/1.8 aperture.

These numbers are not only better than or worse than the ones before them, but they also have some surprising differences. The iPhone 12 Pro Max featured a telephoto aperture of f/2.2, wide at f/1.6 and ultra-wide at f/2.4. It’s unlikely that the iPhone 12 Pro Max can capture better photos than its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro.

iPhone 13 Pro phones feature 3x optical zoom in, 2.5x optical zoom out and Smart HDR 4 for photography. The iPhone 13 Pro also features a new “Photographic styles” system. To see everything new, take a look at our iPhone 13 Pro camera detail article.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max and Pro Max both have 128GB of internal storage. There are also options for 256GB or 512GB storage. This is the same size as the iPhone 12 Pro. The new iPhone 13 Pro models have an additional 1TB internal storage option.
