According to a new ESRB rating, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves remaster collection for PS5 and PC will remove the multiplayer mode from Uncharted 4.
According to the ESRB rating for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves for PlayStation 5 and PC, the multiplayer component from Uncharted 4 has been eliminated in the remaster. Following rumours of an Uncharted collection with all five games presumably coming to PC, Naughty Dog revealed the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves remasters of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for PS5 and PC during the PlayStation Showcase 2021. However, the remastered package will only feature the franchise’s two most current games, leaving out the original Uncharted trilogy.
With Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Naughty Dog introduced multiplayer to the Uncharted franchise for the first time. Uncharted 2 multiplayer offered multiple game modes, including co-op, where players could casually level up characters, acquire new weapons and perks, and battle it out across numerous maps from the single-player campaign, which was a break from the original game (which was purely solo). In Uncharted 3, multiplayer mode made a comeback, and it was eventually introduced to Uncharted 4 in an update that included a revamped in-game store and features from the original game. Unfortunately, the multiplayer in Uncharted 4 was less popular than in prior iterations, and the famous team-based multiplayer FPS Overwatch was launched in the same month in 2016.
The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves remaster collection will not include Uncharted 4 multiplayer, according to an ESRB rating (via VGC). According to the PS5 and PC ratings, the collection will not contain any “Interactive Elements,” such as user interactions, location sharing, the selling of digital products or services, or unrestricted internet access. Though neither PlayStation nor Naughty Dog has acknowledged it, this most likely indicates that the multiplayer mode will be absent from the PS5 and PC versions of Uncharted 4.
Despite its reputation for blockbuster single-player games, Naughty Dog continues to include multiplayer features in its games, with The Last of Us multiplayer component receiving plaudits for its ruthless and tactical gameplay. Naughty Dog is working on an untitled standalone multiplayer spin-off to The Last of Us Part II, and it’s still in development, according to a recent confirmation.
The removal of multiplayer from Legacy of Thieves isn’t unique; multiplayer was also removed from Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. According to this, Sony could follow suit with Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves in early 2022. Although it is doubtful, the absence of Uncharted 4’s multiplayer mode has yet to be confirmed or refuted. A final answer will most likely be given soon, perhaps after pre-orders are available.
In early 2022, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be released on PS5 and PC.
