OWC has unveiled the Accelsior 8M2 PCIe SSD, a new storage solution with a massive 64TB capacity and speeds of up to 26,000MB/s, as well as a plug-and-play design. Windows PCs, Linux workstations, and the 2019 Mac Pro are all compatible with the new model. The 8M2 is the fastest PCIe SSD on the market, according to OWC, and it also has the biggest capacity.
The 8M2 is a costly storage solution for professionals and enthusiasts that require lightning-fast speeds and large storage capacities. However, to put things in perspective, the new OWC storage solution can edit up to 16 8K ProRes444 video streams, making it an intriguing alternative for professional video editors, photographers, game developers, and anyone looking to get the most out of their virtual reality gaming system.
According to OWC, this colossal storage system offers “ultra-reliable” rates of up to 26,000MB/s, as well as a high-efficiency design to dissipate heat. In addition, the 8M2 is built to make maximum use of PCIe bandwidth, which translates to 26GB of data transmission per second.
The new 8M2 model’s eight NVMe M.2 SSD slots can all use their full x4 data speed lanes, and OWC includes SoftRAID XT software for constructing and managing RAID arrays. The 8M2 does not require drivers due to its plug-and-play nature. The devices are pretested and approved for reliable operation over the model’s lifecycle, according to OWC, in addition to a five-year limited guarantee.
OWC has partnered with Acronis to provide 8M2 buyers a year of personal backup and antivirus services, owing to the large storage capacity choice. The solution contains, among other features, the ability to restore data in the event of a disaster, full image backups, disc cloning, and support for hybrid local/cloud backups to meet a variety of demands.
OWC gives customers several options, such as the Accelsior 8M2 with a $799 0TB option for those who prefer to install their own storage devices. Buyers who require drives with the 8M2 can get storage capacities ranging from 2TB to 64TB, but the price is high. The 2TB version of the 8M2 costs $1,299 USD, while the 64TB version costs $12,999 USD.
