Samsung’s huge curved Odyssey Neo G9 gaming display gets an equally huge price

The new 2021 Odyssey Neo G9, Samsung’s large curved gaming display, has a price tag. The new Samsung gaming screen was announced back in March. It is vast at 49 inches and features a Quantum Mini LED.

It is the successor to 2020’s Odyssey G9 screen, which was no surprise. The panel will be able to wrap around your body slightly while you play (or hammer through spreadsheets). There’s also the 1000R curve for 2021.

This is the same system Samsung uses for its Neo QLED TVs. However, it’s on a smaller scale. As a result, it allows Samsung to fit in much more than traditional LEDs.

Samsung Quantum Matrix Technology also features 12-bit gradation, which allows for more precise control over individual LEDs in the backlighting. In addition, there are 2,048 dimming areas, which allow for more excellent contrast and better performance. As a result, Samsung claims that the Odyssey Neo G9 can produce up to 2,000 nits peak brightness and a static contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.

The 49-inch panel is identical to the previous display and has a wide 32:9 aspect ratio. The panel runs at Dual Quad High-Definition, 5,120x 1,440 resolution with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a 1ms response speed. HDR10+ is also supported. Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 with support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Adaptive-Sync on a DisplayPort 1.4. Depending on the graphics card you choose, there is also support for NVIDIA G–SYNC or AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. Two USB ports and a headphone port complete the package.

The gloss-white casing comes with Samsung’s “infinity” lighting. It has 52 colors and five effects. CoreSync has a configurable multiple-color mode. The stand can tilt and swivel, but you also have VESA 100 mounting support if the whole thing is too heavy to lift off your desk. Ergotron’s HX Monitor arm with HD pivot, for example, will do the same.

Preorders for the Odyssey Neo G9 G95NA start July 29 at 2:499.99. It will start shipping on August 9.
