Rainbow Six Siege's next operator builds nice windows

At the top of the month, Rainbow Six Siege is beginning its next season, Operation Crystal Guard. Yesterday, Ubisoft revealed the new operator who’ll be arriving alongside it. Her name is Osa, and they feature an excellent see-through shield she will use to dam out windows. Also, she features a cute little robot toy in her teaser trailer, which seems to be involved in her kit, though it’s unclear exactly how. Maybe it’s just her friend. That might be nice.

In the trailer below, Osa uses her shield to dam a window. Unfortunately, it doesn’t cover the complete thing, leaving a slight gap that folks could shoot through within the top. The shield itself is bulletproof, though it does appear as if it’d be breakable after tons of bullets are thrown at it.

Interestingly, Osa is an attacker. I would’ve thought a capability like this would’ve been a part of a defender’s kit, but I suppose it is sensible if she will also wander around with the shield bent to protect her squad. So perhaps the most spartan offence indeed may be a good defence.

The developers have also released a little bit of background info on Osa within the sort of a letter from one Siege character to a different one. It says: “The device she’s bringing is certain to play on lines of fireside . a transparent shield with mechanical claws that digs itself into surfaces and frames? Its defensive capabilities designed for offensive missions might make Mira jealous that she didn’t consider that first.”

Mira may be a defence operator who can make little windows in reinforced walls. Those need to be meleed to be destroyed, so perhaps Osa’s shields will be similar?

Fortunately, we do not need to wait too long to seek out out. the complete reveal for Osa, and therefore, the Crystal Guard update, is about for Monday the 16th of August at 3 pm BST (7 am PT) over on Twitch.
