At their MAX 2021 event, Adobe announced several new products, including features for its popular image-editing and creative suite Photoshop. One of the new features in blockchain technology makes it easier for content creators to confirm that they are the person behind non-fungible tokens (NFTs) available on platforms like OpenSea and SuperRare.
The NFT market is a crazy one, with merchants offering stolen content in return for bitcoins. Despite the uproar, respectable content makers have managed to carve out a niche in the industry, utilizing blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency craze to reach new audiences. Platforms like OpenSea helped to make this possible.
However, the problem of confirming content ownership when it comes to NFT sales persists, and Adobe is tackling it with new crypto features for Photoshop. The next major edition of Photoshop, according to Adobe, will allow creators to link their crypto wallet addresses and social media accounts to the software’s Content Credentials platform.
Adobe notes that it has partnered with certain significant NFT marketplaces like OpenSea to offer Content Credentials, perhaps most relevant for customers who plan to mint their artwork as NFTs. The idea is that potential purchasers will be able to verify whether the crypto wallet given by the seller is the same one used to generate the Content Credentials when the NFT was created.
Though this functionality is unlikely to be used by most every day producers, it might be invaluable for those who want to sell their content for cryptocurrency but want to take as many precautions as possible to avoid their work from being stolen. The new Content Credentials crypto feature will first be available as a beta version before being made available to the general public.
