Capcom has launched a Halloween-themed website to commemorate Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary, with several reveals set to go live in late October.
Capcom plans to release new Resident Evil reveals throughout the rest of October to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the long-running franchise. The publisher has already celebrated Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary in various ways, the most recent of which was a limited-time RE crossover in Division 2 earlier this year.
Dead by Daylight, an asymmetrical multiplayer game from Behaviour Interactive, featured a Resident Evil Chapter, which paid homage to the beloved horror franchise. Over the summer, the DLC was released, adding a Raccoon City Police Station map, playable characters Chris and Claire Redfield, and Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis as a new Dead by Daylight Killer to the game. But it was the release of Resident Evil Village, an RE7 sequel that brought Ethan Winters and his wife Mia back into the fold, that marked the series’ tenth anniversary. RE Village sold 4.5 million units in only a few weeks, giving Capcom a huge success story on its hands. In the run-up to Halloween, the publisher plans to unleash even more surprises.
According to Twitter user Nibel, a Halloween-themed Resident Evil website has gone live in honor of the 25th anniversary. Capcom’s new website features nine boxes arranged in a row, each with a date that teases an upcoming Resident Evil reveal. Two boxes have already been filled in, one for previously featured merchandise and the other for the RE 4 VR announcement for Oculus and Quest 2. As a result, seven mysterious reveals are left, three of which will be revealed on October 21. Capcom has scheduled two more announcements for October 22, with the final two for October 25 and October 29. In the following Twitter post, Nibel shared a screenshot of the webpage:

The merchandise on the website and references to Resident Evil 4 VR suggest that the next seven news items will be minor. But who knows what Capcom has planned for the future? The publisher always manages to surprise fans in some way, especially when it comes to Resident Evil.
Following last year’s Capcom data breach, it was revealed that the company was working on several RE projects, including Hank and Biohazard Apocalypse. Are these mystery games possible to be released in the coming weeks? We’ll have to wait and see what happens. There’s also the RE Village DLC, which needs proper details, though that announcement may take a while given that the original tease only surfaced during E3 2021.
