Though unconfirmed, new leaks have revealed previously unknown villains and gameplay improvements in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Unconfirmed leaks have revealed new information about Insomniac’s upcoming game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The game, a sequel to the studio’s 2018 title Marvel’s Spider-Man and the 2020 spinoff Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, takes place in a different timeline than any of the character’s previous film or comic adaptations. The games are also unrelated to Marvel’s Avengers‘ upcoming Spider-Man DLC. The 2018 Spider-Man film received positive reviews and featured a different Peter Parker than the franchise’s previous instalments.
Players control a more experienced Spider-Man who has worn the mask for several years in the Insomniac Spider-Man games. Many of his iconic villains, such as Kingpin and Vulture, have already been encountered when the first game begins, while others, such as Venom and Green Goblin, have only been hinted at thus far. Miles Morales established the younger Spider-Man as a fully realised character, albeit with far less experience than the original Spider-Man. The series’ gameplay is similar to Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series, and it allows players to use basic attacks and counters supplemented by gadgets and powers from various Spider-Man suits.
According to ComicBook, recent rumours reveal details about the upcoming game’s storey and gameplay. Kraven the Hunter, a mercenary whose men will pursue Spider-Man throughout New York, has been revealed as one of the game’s villains. Lizard and Mysterio are two other potential foes, though their significance in the plot is unknown. According to the leaks, Peter will get a Venom suit from Oscorp early on, which will likely add to the darker tone of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
According to the leaks, both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be fully playable throughout the game, with the character who isn’t chosen serving as an AI ally during missions. Because of the PlayStation 5’s improved technology, web-slinging and traversal will be faster, and new options such as web grappling will be available to players. It’s also been suggested that wall climbing in the sequel will be more fluid than in the original game.
The rumours have no confirmed source, and they are currently unsubstantiated. However, if the leaks prove to be accurate, they reveal a lot about the upcoming game. After the first game’s success, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has sparked a lot of interest, and a lot of the information in the leaks suggests that the sequel will go far beyond the first. The Spider-Man game series already has a long list of villains, and the addition of even more fan favourites, as well as gameplay improvements, will ensure that Insomniac meets the game’s lofty expectations.
