Unlike devices like the Apple TV 4, Roku, and Amazon FireTV, the Apple TV 3 will only have apps added at Apple’s discretion. You can’t manually add new apps.
Unless Apple adds them to the Apple TV 3, you will not find apps like BBC iPlayer and Amazon Video, among many others.
However, once Apple does add a replacement app, expect it to automatically appear on your Apple TV 3 menu with no additional configuration whatsoever.
If you discover that an app was available before but suddenly disappeared from the Apple TV 3 menu, it might be that the Apple TV 3 region was changed by mistake.
To confirm the region of your Apple TV, please follow the steps below:
- attend Settings
- General
- iTunes Store
- Location
Once you see Location, please confirm that it’s within the country of your choosing (i.e., USA, if you would like to access USA based apps)
