Respawn recognised a bug that caused Apex Legends to crash when players used animated epic postures and advised players to disable such features for the time being.
Apex Legends, a battle royale game from Respawn Entertainment, is experiencing frequent crashes due to recently added character animation epic postures. The developer has advised players to disable such features as it works to resolve the issue. The Halloween-themed Monsters Within event in Apex Legends is currently running, and it has brought 40 new cosmetic items to the game.
As a popular online multiplayer game with various seasonal upgrades, Apex Legends is prone to problems. Over the last few months, the game has had several game-breaking bugs, including one that forced players to resurrect as an entirely different Apex Legends character. Another bug was considerably worse for gamers, as it wiped out all XP-related progress after logging out of the game. EA sent out a quick post on Twitter describing how it planned to fix the problem, later fixed successfully.
Apex Legends appears to be experiencing game crashes due to its animated heroic stances. According to a new tweet from Respawn (via The Gamer), this feature allows Legends to pose in various ways that contribute to their different personalities, according to a new tweet from Respawn (via The Gamer). The glitch drew Respawn’s attention, and the developer responded with a tweet: “This message was just released in-game to assist reduce the number of crashes caused by animated stances. Tell your friends about it!” These poses can be unequipped, as the diagram attached to the post explains, which is good news for people who have been experiencing crashes due to their use.
We’ve just published this message in-game to help cut down on crashes called by animated poses. Tell your friends!

“There’s no obvious reason – looking at the code – why epic (animated) banner poses should trigger this more often – I never saw this bug in testing, nor did QA, but I know the bug is happening,” Apex Legends’ technical game designer, known as RobotHavGunz on Reddit, said in response to posts about the animated poses bug. “Epic banner poses are causing this more frequently,” RobotHavGunz explained, “since the fault is with a safeguard to ensure we don’t try to execute a pose on a character for which it doesn’t apply.” According to the initial tweet, the Apex Legends development team is already looking for a solution. In addition to these animated-pose-induced crashes, Apex Legends is frequently targeted by hackers, so Respawn appears to have its hands full.
Although Apex Legends is suffering crashes, it’s encouraging to see that Respawn has already pinpointed the source of the problem – and even more encouraging to learn that players can avoid the problem. At the same time, the development team works on a solution. Avoiding animated heroic stances for a short period is a simple concession to play Apex Legends without crashing. Hopefully, the issue will be rectified quickly, and gamers will be able to resume posing when Apex Legends Season 11 launches in early November.
