Moncler Skins for Fortnite Reintroduce High Fashion To The Item Shop

Epic Games has announced that it will work with Moncler to deliver skins and products to Fortnite inspired by the fashion designer.

Fortnite has teamed up with Moncler to provide the item shop yet another set of high-fashion skins. The third-person battle royale is currently one of the most popular video games, and much of its success can be attributed to its numerous collaborations. Skins with the likenesses of beloved characters from movies, cartoons, anime, TV shows, and other games can be found in the game’s item shop. Several musicians in the game, including Travis Scott and Ariana Grande, and their Fortnite virtual concerts have become some of the most-watched events in gaming history.

On the other hand, Moncler is a French luxury brand known for its coats, jackets, and winter gear. Their trademark puffy style and little Moncler emblem are the most well-known features of their clothing. In actual life, one of these down jackets can easily cost around $1,500, as one would anticipate from such a high-fashion business. Fortnite isn’t the first game to collaborate with a fashion designer. Several skins inspired by the Air Jordan brand of sneakers and clothing were added to the game in 2019. Epic Games recently teamed up with Balenciaga to bring streetwear to Fortnite. This was accompanied by a large marketing effort on both sides, with the clothes designer releasing many outfits with Fortnite branding.

Epic Games has now stated that it will collaborate with Moncler to expand Fortnite’s apparel collection. Two new clothes will be introduced to the game, inspired by designer Matthew Williams’s 6 Moncler 107 Alyx 9SM line. These will be available as single-colour or reactive skins, and the latter will change colour depending on your altitude as a nod to the brand’s Alpine roots. A pickaxe, a glider, and a back bling item will all be designed like umbrellas in the crossover.

Fashion manufacturers have become more interested in video games in recent years. Designers seek new ways to exhibit their products and reach new audiences as the world becomes increasingly computerised. The Balenciaga above x Fortnite collaboration resulted in the fabrication of a $1,300 denim jacket. Meanwhile, famed French fashion label Louis Vuitton teamed up with Japanese game developer Square Enix in 2015. As a result, a marketing campaign utilising Lightning from the Final Fantasy XIII games was created. While it was not as successful as more current attempts, it started a tie between fashion and video games that has only grown stronger over time.

Animal Crossing was also used as the location for a fashion show during the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020. While partnerships are one thing, several fashion designers have dabbled in video game development as well. Balenciaga released a virtual, mixed reality experience in advance of its Fall 2021 collection, allowing clients to examine the new line in a cyberpunk-style atmosphere. Meanwhile, during the Guccifest event in 2020, Gucci designers released a series of short films. These were designed with video game design in mind and contained interactive elements. Perhaps one day soon, fans will play a full-fledged video game based on a fashion designer.

Fortnite is playable on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and PC.
