An Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan shared their elaborate Wilbur costume photographs just in time for Halloween. The lovable dodo bird serves as an NPC pilot for Dodo Airlines, the social simulation game’s aviation service, and travels with players to other Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands.
As the title suggests, many Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters are animals with human qualities; yet, this doesn’t stop fans from cosplaying as their favorite villagers. Fans of ACNH have dressed up like Flick, the bug-obsessed octopus Marina, the incredibly rare feline villager Raymond, and others. Although no special event or holiday is required for cosplay, with Halloween just around the way, the time is ripe for dressing up as the game’s NPCs.
RallyeReadhead, a Reddit user, recently offered a costume concept for Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Wilbur the Dodo Airlines pilot. “If you need a costume idea, I’ve got you covered!” the user said. Their dodo bird costume is spot-on, complete with Wilbur’s characteristic ACNH Dodo Airlines suit, red necktie, and aviator sunglasses. RallyeReadhead even supplied a black belt with a silver buckle that looks very identical to Wilbur’s.
The outfit worn by RallyeRedhead isn’t the only homage to the Animal Crossing: New Horizon jet pilot. Wilbur’s legs are also coated in blue feathers, which RallyeReadhead faithfully replicated with blue jeans, blue-dyed hair, and yellow high-top sneakers. The dodo bird’s pilot headset was included as a final, detailed touch. RallyeRedhead (and any Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan who wants to do a Dodo Airlines NPC cosplay) can easily dress up as Orville because Wilbur and his lively comrade, Orville, appear remarkably identical to each other, if not for a few fashion accessories.
With Halloween approaching, some people may be under pressure to come up with a memorable costume. Dressing up as Wilbur (or Orville) for Halloween is a simple yet inventive concept, especially for those celebrating with other Animal Crossing: New Horizons gamers.
