The idea of using the smartphone as a desktop PC with the proper accessories isn’t exactly new, but only a few manufacturers have pushed through thereupon concept. Until recently, only Samsung and Huawei have invested resources in giving Android a desktop-like experience when connected to an external display or maybe a Windows computer. Earlier this year, Motorola introduced its combat idea with the oddly-named “Ready For” platform, and it’s now taking that a step further with wireless connectivity and a replacement Ready For PC option.
Motorola is making two announcements regarding its Ready For feature. First, ready, For now, it supports a wireless reference to any display or device that acts as a Miracast receiver, so you won’t need to fumble for cables. Once connected, the phone can even act as an “air mouse” remote so that the cursor on the screen follows the movement of your hand and phone.
The more exciting update that builds on the primary is prepared For PC. during a nutshell; a supported Motorola smartphone can connect wirelessly to a Windows device sitting on an equivalent local network or shared hotspot. Once connected, you’ll quickly share content between phone and PC and may even view the phone’s notifications from the PC.
Motorola doesn’t mention if its Ready For desktop experience will be available with this Ready for PC connection a bit like Samsung DeX. It does, however, have one feature that DeX doesn’t have. You’ll use the smartphone as a Full HD webcam for video calls and live streaming with Ready For PC.
Ready For’s new wireless connectivity is out there on both the Motorola Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20. On the opposite hand, Ready For PC is compatible with the Motorola Edge 20 Pro (wired and wireless), the sting 20 (wireless), and therefore the Edge 20 Lite. However, only the Motorola Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20 support the Ready For PC’s webcam feature.
