Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Reveals MCU Drax Skin

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will feature Marvel Cinematic Universe skins, including Dave Bautista’s lightning-fast and incredibly stealthy Drax.

A new Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy screenshot shows off an in-game skin that reflects Drax the Destroyer’s appearance within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Eidos-Montréal’s upcoming sci-fi superhero title will put players within the jet-powered boots of Star-Lord as he leads the intergalactic team on an epic adventure. A recent preview of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy gives fans a better check out the single-player action title’s story and gameplay before its release.

Unlike Marvel’s Avengers, another action title published by Square Enix and supported a Marvel Comics team, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy may be a strictly single-player experience. Instead of choosing between the team’s various cosmic misfits, Star-Lord alone is controlled by the player. However, his status is because the Guardians’ leader means he can issue orders in combat scenarios and narrative moments. In addition, Peter Quill’s jet boots and elemental guns let him survey the battlefield and disrupt enemies, which may create a gap for his teammates to deal heavy damage. Making Star-Lord the sole playable character allows Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy to be a heavily narrative-driven experience, as the player choice can affect the plot in unique ways.

A recent tweet from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy includes a glance at a Marvel Cinematic Universe-inspired skin for Drax. The title is already said to incorporate numerous different cosmetic skins for every member of the Guardians, inspired by their histories in comic books and other media. However, Drax’s MCU skin reflects Dave Bautista’s portrayal of the character in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War, featuring distinctive grey skin and scar-like tattoos. While MCU-inspired skins for all five Guardians are expected to seem within the final game, Drax’s skin is the first to be revealed.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown to become a massively beloved and influential movie franchise, with new installments planned for years within the future. This popularity has led many recent Marvel games, like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Avengers, to incorporate skins that supported the characters’ live-action portrayals. Crystal Dynamics’ multiplayer action title Marvel’s Avengers recently added an Iron Man MCU skin which reflects the long-lasting armor worn within the character’s very first big-screen appearance. However, while Marvel’s Avengers requires players to spend real-world money to accumulate skins, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has all cosmetic items unlocked through gameplay.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will include a mess of skins, allowing players to customize Star-Lord and, therefore, the remainder of the Guardians team with classic comic designs and other adaptations. Marvel Cinematic Universe skins are frequently requested in modern Marvel games, thanks to the immense popularity of the live-action franchise. With Drax the Destroyer’s MCU skin accurately reflecting the planning of Dave Bautista’s fast and boisterous brawler, it seems likely that the remainder of the game’s skins will hit an identical level of accuracy.
