Ikaris and Sersi, characters from the upcoming Eternals film, have joined the Marvel Contest Of Champions roster, a mobile combat game.
Ikaris and Sersi, two new heroes who will appear in the upcoming Eternals film, are introduced in Marvel Contest of Champions version 33.0. But, of course, this isn’t the first time a beloved character from the big screen has appeared in a mobile combat game. Marvel Contest of Champions, for example, added Peni Parker to the mix in August, a couple of years after her big-screen debut in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Other Spider-Verse characters have already been included in the list. Spider-Ham is one of these heroes, having joined the Contest of Champions roster in December 2020, over a year ago. Likewise, Spider-Gwen first appeared in the comics in 2015, three years before her animated debut in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. So it’s no surprise that another new set of heroes has been added to the Marvel Contest of Champions roster, given the impending release of yet another vast Marvel film.
Two characters from Marvel Studios’ Eternals, which opens in theatres later this week, are among the latest heroes to enter the competition. In the recently released V33.0 update for Contest of Champions, Kabam introduced the two heroes in the issue, Ikaris, and Sersi. Sersi, while being a solid Eternal, likes to live among mortals. Sersi, on the other hand, is nothing if not fearsome, thanks to her capacity to influence whatever non-sentient matter she comes into contact with. Ikaris, a Jack Kirby creation, is another Eternal with extraordinary skills ranging from super strength to cosmic energy projection to flying and regeneration.
Marvel Contest of Champions, released in late 2014, is only one of the many Marvel mobile games available. MARVEL Future Revolution is the first Marvel-branded open-world action RPG to be released on mobile devices, and it was released in August. Of course, games like Marvel Puzzle Quest and Marvel Strike Force are still getting updates.
The comic book behemoth heroes, villains, and anti-heroes aren’t just making waves on the road. Marvel’s adventures abound on console and PC, one of which was released last week in the form of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy from Deus Ex studio Eidos-Montréal. In addition, Firaxeis, the creators of XCOM, will release the tactical RPG Midnight Suns next year, while Insomanic Games continues to work on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine.
Marvel Contest of Champions is now accessible on Android and iOS devices, and Eternals will be released in theatres on November 5.
