The global smartphone brand OnePlus has unveiled a new smartphone in India after launching its flagship OnePlus 9 series of smartphones in March. It is a successor to its popular and affordable smartphone series ‘Nord.
OnePlus has a unique place in the mid-premium market with ‘Nord.’ The company’s first Indian device, launched in July 2020, has been a huge success and a key part of its global diversification strategy to add more products at different price points.
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G in India will be available at OnePlus.in and Amazon. in three storage options starting July 28.
Prices for the 6GB+128GB (or 8GB+128GB) and 12GB+256GB (or both) are Rs 27,999, Rs 29,999, and Rs 34,999 respectively. They offer a variety of colors, including blue haze and gray Sierra, as well as green woods.
We tested a top-of-the-line model with 12GB RAM and an additional 256GB of internal storage in blue-haze color for a while. Here’s what it did.
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G has a similar design to the other smartphones in this series. It has a stunning design that feels premium and is as comfortable as a premium smartphone. Its soothing color adds more value.
The camera hole in the top left corner of the front allows for selfies. You will find a camera bump at the top left of the device that houses a rear camera setup. In the middle, you will find a company logo.
We could use the phone by ourselves because we had perfect placements of the power button, alert slider, and other keys. In addition, it only weighs 189 grams.
The smartphone has a 6.43-inch FHD+ Fluid AMOLED display and a 20/9 aspect ratio. It also features a 90Hz refresh rate.
The display provided a very smooth viewing experience. We also liked the thin bezels that made it more appealing.
The smooth 90Hz refresh rate made it easy to switch between apps, watch videos and play top-level games.
You may be able to tell the difference if your current refresh rate is 120Hz.
We were able to use the phone in direct sunlight without any problems. The color reproduction was consistent even though we tried different angles.
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G features a triple rear camera setup. It includes a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP monochrome camera.
The 32MP camera has a Sony IMX615 sensor at the front. This is great for selfies and virtually all your meetings.
According to the brand, it’s the best-resolution front camera available on a OnePlus device.
The photos taken from the rear and front sensors did a good job.
This mode allows users to get a realistic view of what they want to photograph — at night and during the day. In addition, the nightscape mode can be used to capture photos at night.
OnePlus Nord 2 5G comes with an ‘AI Photo Enhanced’ feature that recognizes up to 22 different types of photography and adjusts the settings accordingly for better results.
The smartphone’s chipset is the MediaTek Dimensity 12200-AI processor. This processor boasts one of the fastest smartphone CPUs.
It can be said that the device has a good gaming experience after playing a few heavy games like Asphalt 9: Legends or Call of Duty. It was able to handle most heavy games without lag.
The smartphone was also responsive and did not lag when multitasking. Also, both the in-display fingerprint sensor as well as the face unlock worked perfectly.
We were able to use the 12GB RAM and the 256GB internal storage.
The smartphone is pre-installed in OxygenOS 11.3. This version features improvements such as Dark Mode and Zen Mode. There are also various Always On Display (AOD) options with gestures and customization that can be used for gaming.
The smartphone’s battery is 4500mAh and features Warp Charge 65 charging technology. It is identical to the flagship OnePlus 9 series.
For heavy users, more battery power would have been an advantage. However, this is not an issue with fast-charging technology.
Conclusion:
The OnePlus Nord 5G has a premium look and powerful processor that will appeal to all generations. It is strong in comparison to smartphones of other brands within the same price range.
