Apple could buy Reese Witherspoon's production company for $1 billion

Apple could acquire Hello Sunshine, the production firm founded by Reese Witherspoon.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple was once a potential buyer for the production studio. However, the report doesn’t say if Apple is still interested in acquiring the company to boost its Apple TV+ streaming service.

One person said that the company started looking into a sale after receiving interest from several suitors, including Apple Inc. According to people familiar with the matter, the company could be worth as high as $1 billion in a deal.

According to people familiar with the matter, Hello Sunshine is currently working with investment bankers to explore its options. The company cannot guarantee a buyer.

Apple has made many deals with production companies but has not yet bought one. Apple currently plans to produce all content for its Apple TV+ streaming platform through Apple Original Studios, in partnership with various studios.
