Video conferencing is now possible in Telegram’s encrypted messaging application, even though it took some time.
A blog post explains that the new update of the service allows voice chats within any group to seamlessly transform into group video calls after users turn on their video.
Telegram users can make any video full-screen. So if they pin a video, it will remain focused no matter how many people join the call or turn on their cameras. This is especially helpful during meetings when you need to focus on the presenter or online classes when you don’t want to miss the instructor’s message.
Telegram voice chats allow unlimited participants, but the video is available only for the first 30 users who turn on their cameras. The company stated that they would soon increase this limit as voice chats are used for streaming games, live events, and other purposes.

Telegram lets users share their screens simultaneously with others. This contrasts with traditional video conferencing services, which require users to choose between enabling their camera or sharing their screen.
Telegram’s new group video calling feature supports both desktop and tablets. These devices have more screen real-estate, so Telegram has added additional display options. For example, users can view the side panel to get a split-screen view that shows both the video grid and the list of participants. This is available in landscape or portrait orientation.
Voice chats on the desktop open in a separate window. This allows users to type and speak without needing to minimize. Telegram’s desktop application also allows users to share a specific program rather than their entire screen. This could be helpful for hiding clutter on the desktop. Telegram also announced that they have improved noise suppression in voice chats to ensure that everyone’s audio is clear and crisp, even while they are eating.
Telegram’s encrypted messaging app has seen improvements that will help increase collaboration. Users can also use it as a business application if they so desire.
