System Running Low on Resources on Windows 10

Here we can see, “System Running Low on Resources on Windows 10”

The majority of computers have two or more registered user accounts. Multiple user accounts on a single computer are quite handy, but they can also present issues.

This time, we’ll discuss the issue that prevents you from logging into a user account and displays the error “System running low on resources – Cannot log on as a new user.”

How can I resolve the error “System running low on resources” in Windows 10?

    1. Make certain that all programs have been closed.
    2. Modify the power settings
    3. Your machine should start up without any problems.
    4. Check your machine for viruses.
    5. Troubleshoot PC memory problems

As you may have noticed, this problem occurs more frequently on systems that have several user accounts. It also shows when you go from one user account to another without shutting down all open programs.

So, if you didn’t close all open apps before switching to a different user account, the error “System running short on resources – Cannot log on as new user” may show on the next reboot.

These programs now utilize your memory because you left them running, and you don’t have enough memory to ‘run’ the next user account.

This issue is more common on computers with less RAM, and it was more common in prior versions of Windows, but it could appear on your system as well if your PC is barely compatible with Windows 10.

So, let’s see what we can do to get rid of this issue and log in normally to the new user account.

Solution 1: Ensure that all programs have been closed

As I previously stated, this issue is most likely the result of running apps that consume your memory resources. As a result, the first obvious step in resolving this issue is to terminate these processes.

So, before signing into the second user account, check to see if any programs from the previous user account are still running.

After you’ve verified that you’ve closed all of your applications on one user account, go to Log out (not Switch accounts), and once you’ve logged out successfully, try logging in to another user account. This time, you shouldn’t have any issues.

    Solution 2: Change Power Settings

There’s another reason for the problem that’s comparable to this one. This is a laptop issue, and it all depends on how your computer is set up to react before closing the laptop lid.

First and foremost, you must wait until you’ve logged off before closing your lid; if you close your lid while still logged in, this error will most likely display.

When the lid is closed, your laptop’s power settings are generally configured to put it to sleep or hibernate. So, if you can’t wait to close your lid, make a couple of modifications to your Power Management settings before you log off.

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

    1. Open Power Options by going to Search and typing power options.
    2. Choose What is the purpose of closing the lid? When the lid is closed, do nothing.

Solution 3: Restart your computer with a clean boot

    1. Go to Start > select the Power icon > select Restart while holding down the Shift key.
    2. A blue screen will show > go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Settings > Startup Settings > Troubleshoot > Advanced Settings > Startup Settings > Restart.
    3. Your computer will restart on its own > To enable Safe Mode with Networking, press F5.
    4. Go to Start and type’msconfig’ > to do a clean boot. Then, on the Services tab, press Enter > check the Hide all Microsoft services box > click Disable all.
    5. Select Open Task Manager from the Startup tab.
    6. In Task Manager, go to the Startup tab, select everything, and click Disable.
    7. Close the Task Manager application.
    8. Click OK > restart your machine on the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box.

Solution 4: Run a virus scan on your machine

Malware can also cause this error by putting a load on your computer’s resources. Run a full system scan with your antivirus of choice to eliminate this potential problem.

To keep bitcoin miners at bay, we also recommend installing anti-malware software that works with your antivirus, as well as a cryptojacking blocker.

To refresh your memory, bitcoin miners consume your computer’s resources without your permission, resulting in slowdowns.

Solution 5: Resolve PC memory problems

If your computer’s memory is low, this could cause an error message. Thankfully, Windows Report has a series of articles on resolving low memory issues.

    Conclusion

I hope you found this information helpful. Please fill out the form below if you have any questions or comments.

    User Questions

    1. What is the best way to free up system resources?

    • Hold down the CTRL and ALT keys, then touch the DEL key once while holding them down. The dialogue window for closing programmes appears.
    • By clicking on an application, you can uninstall it.
    • End the task by clicking the Finish button. The programme you chose will close as well as the Close Programs dialogue box.

    2. What’s the deal with my system’s limited resources?

The failure to “give back” is referred to as a “memory leak,” and it eventually results in a notice indicating that your machine is running low on resources. Programs that load automatically every time your Windows system boots might also create memory leaks. The Windows Startup folder contains programmes that run when your computer starts up.

    3. What can you do if your system resources are limited and it’s affecting your sound quality?

    1. Close any apps that you don’t need.
    2. Make use of the Ultimate Performance Mode.
    3. Make sure your graphics driver is up to current.
    4. Run the Audio Troubleshooter programme.
