Saw Video Game Confirmed For Next-Gen Consoles

Mark Burg and Oren Koules, producers of Saw, have revealed that Lionsgate is considering producing new video games for the franchise.

The Saw film franchise’s makers have announced that new video games based on the series are in the works for next-generation systems. Konami released two Saw video games during the franchise’s heyday in the late 2000s, both of which took place between the first two films. The games were badly accepted, and the pulpy-yet-iconic film series left a lot to be desired.

The Saw film franchise came to an end the same year as the second game. Since then, two more films have been released, and Saw has appeared in video games such as Dead by Daylight. Konami never released a third Saw game, and the series’ multi-media ideas mainly were abandoned. The Saw franchise used to remove a new picture every year, but Lionsgate has cut down on the franchise. Nonetheless, given the success of Spiral: From the Book of Saw, the studio appears to be more optimistic about the Saw franchise’s future, and a tenth film is currently in development.

Similarly, it was revealed during a Reddit AMA with Saw producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules that further Saw games are in the works. When asked if any new Saw games will be coming to current-gen platforms, the producers stated emphatically that they would. These games appear to be in early development, with some features being worked out, but more Saw games are certainly in the works.

“100% Lionsgate has provided us with some incredible projects that we are now investigating. However, it will be 100 percent successful. “It’ll happen.”

Jigsaw made his first appearance in Call of Duty: Warzone in 2020, although that was the character’s most significant role since the Konami-published games. It’s still unclear what form a new Saw video game might take. Since 2010, games have progressed significantly, with some licensed titles on par with some of the best games of the previous decade. Developers have also learned how to construct fascinating branching stories using Telltale-style blends of adventure and point-and-click mechanics, which would be perfect for a Saw game.

It’s also unclear who would create and market a new Saw game. Developers have addressed horror icons like Friday the 13th and Predator like Illfonic. Gun Media, the co-developer of Friday the 13th, is rumored to be working on a Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game, though nothing has been confirmed. Despite mixed reviews for the two titles above, there appears to be a demand for matches based on these legendary horror brands, and whoever creates a new Saw video game would be well to understand why people love horror games in the first place.
