Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 leaked renders show it off in a rainbow of colors

We get a first look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 renders.

This news confirms previous rumors that the Z Flip 3 will be released on August 3. It also includes a US price tag at $1,400 (around US$1,010 / AU$1,865). This is slightly lower than the launch price for the predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G. It was priced at $1,449 / PlayStation1,399 / AU$2,599.

Although rumors of the Samsung Z Flip 3 have been floating around, other than a few blurry screenshots and a press mock-up, there has not been much to show for the Z Flip 5G, which is presumably the Z Flip 2. However, GizNext has provided renders of the clamshell foldable.

These renders show that the Z Flip 3 will look very similar to its predecessors. The only difference is a larger external screen – GizNext claims it is 1.9 inches instead of the 1.1 inches on the predecessors. The display is positioned vertically next to the foldable, and it gets a larger pair of main cameras. In addition, new renders reveal a little more of the outer screen’s range. This includes media controls for audio and media controls.

The render leak also shows the colors that the clamshells will be available in. These include dark forest green, violet, pastel yellow, and traditional black. However, the GizNext post suggests that it will also come in pink, grey, and dark blue. In addition, images show that models will be two-toned with the outer display and cameras covered in a glossy black rectangle.

Galaxy Z Flip 3: the same-size phone with a few improvements

Rumors are not as consistent about certain aspects of the new phone. For instance, a leak claimed that the external screen would measure 3 inches. This would be larger than the GizNext leak’s estimate of 1.9 inches.

Other exciting rumors include that the Z Flip 3 could be compatible with the multi-device Samsung S Pen stylus. We just heard that the same stylus could also work on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 traditional folding device. The main display is not too big – it is supposedly the same 6.9-inch, ultra-thin 25:9 ratio screen as the predecessor, according to GizNext. We don’t know how useful this accessory would be, but it’s still exciting to hear.

We’ll probably hear more about the foldable as the August release window approaches. This will give us a better idea of the device’s potential improvements and how it will appeal to consumers in 2021.
