Troubleshooting Service After an Outage

Sometimes, after electric power and Spectrum services are restored following an outage, it is necessary to reset your Spectrum equipment because the final step is restoring services.

To reset your Spectrum Receiver.

Unplug your receiver for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.

To reset your gateway or your standalone modem.

  1. Unplug the facility cord from the gateway or modem and take away any batteries.
  2. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert any batteries and reconnect the facility cable.
  3. Wait two minutes to make sure that the reset is complete. Your modem’s connection lights should be solid (not blinking).
  4. Check your internet connection to form sure it’s working.

  1. Unplug the facility cord from the rear of the modem and take away any batteries.
  2. Unplug the facility cord from the wifi router.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert any batteries and reconnect power to the modem.
  4. Allow a minimum of two minutes to make sure that the reset is complete. Your modem’s connection lights should be solid (not blinking).
  5. Reconnect the facility to your wifi router. Allow a minimum of two minutes for your router to end powering on.
  6. Check your internet connection to form sure it’s working.

1. No Internet After a power failure 

The power went out twice today. After the second time, the wifi stopped working. Ethernet worked but cut out every 1-2 minutes. Time Warner/Spectrum wasn’t much help, and a technician can’t begin until sometime next week, so I started my very own investigation.

The wifi buttons on the router/modem do not work, and therefore, the NetGear genie app also says the wifi is turned off. So I went and got a replacement router, and this one won’t even connect via Ethernet, but the wifi works a minimum of now.

2. Internet stopped working after power failure … help

the power went out for a few hours yesterday while I used to be at work, and once I got home, the web stopped working. The modem and router lights are all on and show normal. I can hook up with the router, but no internet connection. I attempted connecting to the modem from my MacBook, and that I still cannot get to the web. I attempted renewing the IP and flushing the DNS cache, and still no luck. I also tried resetting the modem. Does anyone have a thought about what could also be the problem?

We had an influence outage for a couple of hours, and now it’s on-again, but our wifi isn’t working. The entire box doesn’t show any color, not red or green lights. I’ve unplugged it, then plugged it back in, and therefore, the only light that flashes is that the Ethernet then stops. Is there anything that would fix this?

4. Router has no connection after an influence outage?

the router hasn’t appeared to recover yet. I used to be wondering if I could get the status of my router checked and possibly remotely reset? However, manually resetting its reception hasn’t appeared to work, and that I know when someone did it remotely once I asked on here, it worked just fine afterward.

5. Power outage=no internet from Comcast

Although I even have a Tesla PowerWall, which provided power to my whole house, including my Comcast cable modem and router, I still lost my internet connection as soon because PG&E turned off the neighborhood power during the last PSPS. Comcast requires power at the road level to urge their signal to people’s homes. AT&T placed generators at specific locations to form sure that their customers had an online signal. Is Comcast planning on doing something similar, or do they only blame PG&E?
