Motorola Edge 5G UW is Verizon’s new best Apple and Samsung alternative

The Motorola Edge 5G UW is a large smartphone connecting to Ultra Wideband 5G broadband networks. This gadget sports a 6.8-inch display, as if it were simply adding 0.1-inch to the size of the iPhone 13 Pro Max to outperform it (with its 6.7-inch display). That display also outperforms Motorola’s previous most giant phone, the Motorola Edge+, a brilliantly bright and gorgeous phone in its own right.

If you look at our Motorola Edge+ review from July of 2020, it’s evident that Motorola is capable of producing a stunning smartphone. The SLIPPERY nature of that item was our major gripe with it. A phone with curved edges and glass on the front and back begs for a protective case.

The Motorola Edge 5G UW has 169 x 76 x 8.85mm, weighs 201.6g, and has a 6.8-inch LCD FHD+ display. The tablet boasts FHD+ resolution, which means it’s incredibly similar to the Edge+, with a 144Hz image refresh rate and a touch latency of up to 576Hz. So while it may not be as bright or vivid as the OLED on the Edge+, it does have a higher set of refresh rates, which CAN make a significant impact.

With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G mobile platform (processor/chipset) and Adreno 642L GPU, the Motorola Edge 5G UW runs Android 11 right out of the box. This gadget comes with 6GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of internal storage. A large 5000mAh battery and USB-C 30W TurboPower charging capabilities are found within.

It’s worth noting that the smartphone may or may not have a charging block in the box. The Motorola Edge, one USB-C cable, instructions, and a SIM tool are all included.

A 108MP camera with Ultra Pixel Technology and an f/1.9 aperture is included in the back-facing cameras. In addition, there’s an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture for “macro vision.” A 2MP “Depth camera” with an f/2.4 aperture is the third camera. Finally, a single 32MP camera with f/2.25 aperture and Quad Pixel Technology is located on the front.

This device is water-resistant to IP52 and has only one SIM card slot. Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, three microphones, and a bottom-ported speaker are all included on the phone.

Only one color will be offered for this device: Nebula Blue. On a Verizon Device Payment plan, the Verizon Motorola Edge 5G UW will cost $18.33 per month for 30 months. That’s a retail price of $549.99. There’s also a Verizon deal whereby if you buy this phone “with a new line on various Unlimited plans,” you can receive it “on us,” according to Verizon.
