Your Apple computer will be updated to the latest version of macOS, the company’s desktop operating system, shortly. macOS Monterey is the most recent version, and it will be available for practically every Apple desktop device dating back to late 2013. Next week, the new MacBook Pro 14 and 16-inch laptops will ship with this software pre-installed.
On October 25, if you have a macOS computer at home, you’ll discover an upgrade waiting for you. That is, providing your machine’s build matches the macOS Monterey release date (October 25, 2021). The “Late 2013” edition of the Mac Pro is the oldest Mac that will receive this update.
You’ll get macOS Monterey at launch if you have a Mac Pro from late 2013 or later. The same can be said about the Mac minis from late 2014 and beyond and the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air from early 2015 and later. You’ll get this upgrade if you have a MacBook from early 2016 or later. Late 2015 and older iMacs will also be affected. If you have an iMac Pro from 2017 or later, you’ll be fine with the upgrade.

Some of the features in this operating system update will only work with particular hardware. Some new features, for example, will not work if you’re using an Intel system. Meanwhile, because you’re using an Apple system, there’s no need to look into hardware requirements beyond your machine’s release date to see if you can download and operate this new OS — it’s as simple as that.
