Method 1: Change your desktop background to the Windows 7 wallpaper.

Setting the Windows 7 wallpaper as your desktop background is the first and easiest way to make Windows 10 look like Windows 7.

Step 1: Save this classic Windows 7 wallpaper to your computer by downloading it.

Step 2: Select Set as Desktop Background from the context menu when you right-click on this image.

Now you can act as if you still have Windows 7.

Method 2: Modify the Start Menu

Another simple way to make Windows 10 look like Windows 7 is to change the Start menu to the Windows 7 classic Start menu. To do so, you’ll need the free tool Classic Shell.

To change your Windows 10 start menu, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Get Classic Shell and install it. This free tool can make the Windows 10 Start Menu look like the one in Windows 7.

Step 2: After launching the classic shell, go to the Start Menu Style button and choose Windows 7 Style from the drop-down menu. Then select Pick image from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: After that, you must obtain the images of the Windows 7 Start orb. Return to the Classic Shell menu and, at the bottom of the window, select Custom.

Step 4: Next, select the Windows 7 start orb you downloaded by clicking on Pick image.

Step 5. Click the Skin tab and choose Windows Aero from the Skin drop-down menu. Then click OK to apply the changes.

Method 3: Change the File Explorer in Windows 10 Look like the Explorer in Windows 7.

Changing Windows 10 File Explorer to Windows 7 is an excellent way to make Windows 10 look and act like Windows 7.

Multiple changes were made to Windows 10 File Explorer from what is now known as the classic Windows 7 explorer, all of which were intended to improve the overall user experience. Although some users still prefer the older version. If you’re a purist, you can revert Windows 10 File Explorer to the classic version by following the steps below.

Step 1: Download the OldNewExplorer programme and extract it from a RAR archive.

Step 2: Double-click the OldNewExplorerCfg file in the OldNewExplorer folder you extracted.

Step 3: Run this programme and permit it to make changes to your operating system.

Step 4: Enable the Use classic drive grouping in This PC feature and the Use command bar instead of the Ribbon option.

Step 5. To make these new settings take effect, exit this app and restart your PC.

You can learn more about how to make Windows 10’s file explorer look like Windows 7 here.

If these changes to make Windows 10 look like Windows 7 aren’t enough for you, keep reading to learn about other options.

Method 4: Change the colour of the Windows title bars to match the colour scheme of Windows 7.

By default, the title bar in Windows 10 is white. You can change the colour of the title bar to match the default settings in Windows 7. But, first, let’s look at how to make the Windows title bar more colourful.

Step 1: To continue, right-click on your desktop and select Personalization.

Step 2: On the left action panel of the pop-up window, select Colors.

Step 3: Choose Navy Blue to make your computer look like Windows 7.

Step 4: Next, change the title bar colours. At the bottom of the action panel, look for the Title bars option.

Method 5: Replace Microsoft Edge with Internet Explorer.

Furthermore, you can use Internet Explorer instead of Microsoft Edge to make Windows 10 appear and feel more like Windows 7.

Step 1: Right-click the Microsoft Edge icon and choose Unpin from Taskbar from the context menu.

Step 2: Next, use the Start Menu’s search field to locate Internet Explorer.

Step 3: Right-click Internet Explorer and select Pin to Taskbar from the context menu.

Step 4: Open Internet Explorer and select Internet options by clicking the gear-shaped tools icon in the upper-right corner.

Step 5: From the upper taskbars, select the Programs tab once the Internet options pop-up window appears. Then select Make Internet Explorer the default browser, from the drop-down menu.

Step 6: From the list of results, select Internet Explorer and then click the Set this programme as default option.

After you’ve completed all of the steps, Internet Explorer will take the place of Windows’ Edge browser. Do you believe this is the final step in making Windows 10 more like Windows 7 in terms of appearance and feel? No, let’s go deeper into the methods.

Method 6: Use a Local Account to Log In Instead of a Microsoft Account. You can use

By default, your Windows account is linked to your Microsoft account in Windows 10. In other words, you use your Microsoft E-mail and password to log into your computer.

You can use a local account or create a new local history separate from your Microsoft account, unlike Windows 10. You can use this option to replace your Microsoft account with a local version, making Windows 10 feel and look like Windows 7.

Step 1. Type Change your account picture in the search box and double click it to open the account settings window.

Step 2: Instead of signing in with a local account, click Sign in with a local account when opening the account settings windows.

Step 3: You will then receive a link, which you must click. Then, by verifying your current password, you can switch to a local account. To continue, click Next.

Step 4: Create a new username and password for your local account. Click Next to save your changes after re-entering your password and password hint.

Step 5. In the new window, click Sign out and finish, which will convert the Microsoft account to a local account that will not affect the Windows Store app.

Method 7: Remove the Task View Button and Cortana from the Taskbar.

The search box on the Windows 7 Classic Start menu has been moved to the taskbar and integrated into Cortana, while the Task View icon has also been added to the taskbar in Windows 10.

Remove both of them from the taskbar to make Windows 10 look like Windows 7.

Step 1: Right-click a blank space on the taskbar to remove Microsoft’s assistant, then select Cortana and Hide.

Step 2: To disable this feature, right-click on the taskbar and select the Show Task View button.

Method 8: Get to the Classic Personalization Windows Quickly

Do you know that the Windows 7 personalization window can still be found in the control panel? You can access the new Personalization section in PC Settings by right-clicking on the blank space on your Windows 10 desktop and selecting Personalization.

If you want, you can add a shortcut to the desktop to quickly access the classic Personalization window.

Step 1: From the pop-up menu, right-click your desktop to create a new folder.

Step 2: Type Personalization.ED834ED6-4B5A-4bfe-8F11-A626DCB6A921 into the name of the new folder and press the Enter key.

The new folder will then become the classic personalization window, and its name will change to Personalization. You can access the traditional Personalization in Windows 7 by double-clicking on this icon.

Method 9: Deactivate the Action Center.

Action centre is a new feature in Windows 10 that allows you to quickly click on all of your notifications. For example, it’s helpful to see all of the recent reports you may have missed.

However, you might be wondering how to remove it so that Windows 10 looks and behaves like Windows 7. You can, of course, turn off the Action Center using the built-in settings.

You can now proceed to the steps listed below.

Step 1: In the search box, type Settings and double-click this app.

Step 2: Select System from the drop-down menu. Then, from the left taskbar, select Notifications & actions in the pop-up window. Then, on the slider, toggle the switch off to turn off the Action Center.

You’ve turned off the action centre for the time being.

In 2021, Microsoft will release a new version of Windows 12 with a slew of new features. As previously stated, Microsoft will release Windows 12 in April and October of the following year. The first method, as is customary, is to update directly from Windows, whether through Windows Update or an ISO file for Windows 12.

    1. Is Windows 12 a better operating system than Windows 10?

Windows 12 Lite, based on Linux, is “3x faster than Windows 10” and “anti-ransomware.” According to the accompanying information, this operating system promises seamless upgrades that won’t interrupt your work, is virus and ransomware-free and can run alongside Windows 7 or 10.

    1. Is Windows 11 a better gaming operating system?

Unlike previous Windows releases, Windows 11 is a good gaming platform. Moreover, these features could make it an even better gaming OS than Windows 10. DirectStorage, for example, allows high-performance NVMe SSDs to quickly load assets to a GPU without putting the CPU under strain.
