DOOM Eternal Horde Mode Looks Difficult As Hell In Teaser

DOOM Eternal’s much-anticipated Horde Mode has recently received a teaser trailer, promising that all Hell will break free next week on October 26.

A short teaser clip for DOOM Eternal Horde Mode has been released online, with a release date of late October attached. Over the summer, developer id Software previewed the Horde Mode for DOOM Eternal, introducing the feature to replace the shooter’s previously announced single-player Invasion Mode.

The single-player Invasion mode was announced years ago at QuakeCon 2018, to release alongside the primary experience on day one. However, Id Software amended these intentions, delaying Invasion Mode until an indeterminate date as a free post-launch update. Notably, it would have added multiplayer elements to the sequel’s single-player campaign, allowing users to invade the games of others and defeat them as demons. In July of this year, the invasion was dropped, and DOOM Eternal’s Horde Mode took its place. I’ll have something to show for such a decision very soon.

Today, October 21, Bethesda Softworks released a roughly 30-second teaser trailer for the upcoming Horde Mode in DOOM Eternal. According to the video’s finale, the mode is so close that it’s set to go live next week on Tuesday, October 26. More information on the new content will be revealed tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET in a Twitch stream on the official Bethesda channel. The presentation will be hosted by Hugo Martin, Game Director, and Joshua Boyle, Senior Community Manager.

Horde Mode will be released alongside DOOM Eternal Update 6.66, including BATTLE MODE 2.0 and two new Master Levels. In addition, players can look forward to enhanced matchmaking, streak-based prizes, and a brand-new arena with BATTLE MODE in particular.

The continued support for DOOM Eternal provided by Id Software is nothing short of astounding. Since its initial release in March 2020, the critically praised first-person shooter has received free content updates and paid DLC, the latter of which was released in two chapters titled The Ancient Gods Part One and The Ancient Gods Part Two. Furthermore, in late June, PS5 and Xbox Series X users received a free upgrade that included improved visuals, ray-tracing compatibility, and performance options that allowed DOOM Eternal to run at 120fps or in 4K at 60 frames per second.

DOOM Eternal is now available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S; Horde Mode will be available on October 26.
