Arlo Go 2 LTE/Wi-Fi Security Camera gives us a peek at where 5G is headed

To make remote security monitoring easier for consumers, Arlo and Verizon released a new camera with an inbuilt rechargeable battery and 4G LTE connectivity. With a very short name: Arlo Go 2 LTE/WiFi Security Camera, an equally straightforward goal: to keep tabs on your loved ones. Verizon provides this camera to those who wish to keep an eye on places that otherwise wouldn’t have a simple personal protection solution connected to a 4G LTE cellular plan.

Here, I will use the Arlo Go 2 LTE/WiFi Security Camera as an example of what we may expect from 5G. There are no 5G networking capabilities in this camera because it lacks the essential hardware. Rather, what I’m getting at is that this device will serve as a fantastic example of how 5G data will make devices like this feel like a commonplace piece of equipment.

We have a wide range of coverage thanks to 4G. There will be a lot more coverage and a lot faster internet with 5G. Arlo Go 2 cameras like this one have two features that are thrilling now but will become more commonplace in the future thanks to 5G:

1. A steady stream of high-quality video.

2. Internet access is available at all times and in all places.

The Arlo Go 2 LTE/Wi-Fi security camera is currently compatible with Verizon’s 4G LTE network and may be used wherever there is WiFi or a 4G LTE connection. Using the camera’s built-in microphone and speaker, the Arlo camera will be able to stream “clear 1080p video” and allow for live two-way audio via the Arlo app on your phone. In the future, this device will be available on other networks, but Verizon will be the first to get its hands on it.

An Arlo Go 2 LTE/Wi-Fi Security Camera (and other products like it) will give us a taste of it to anticipate internet connectivity anyplace and with practically every gadget that could benefit from it. Internet-capable devices will someday be expected to access the internet anywhere and anywhere, with reliable connectivity.

4G LTE connectivity plus a device that’s cool on its own is the next best thing before we get there. With interchangeable rechargeable batteries, weather-resistant exterior (hot, cold, rain, sun), and onboard microSD card storage, the Arlo Go 2 LTE/Wi-Fi Security Camera will be released. In addition, this device boasts GPS connectivity, a built-in siren and spotlight, and the ability to record and transmit 1080p HD video.

November 4, 2021, is the release date for the Arlo Go 2 LTE/Wi-Fi Security Camera. The Arlo Go 2 LTE/Wi-Fi Security Camera will initially only be offered through Verizon, but it will be available through “other carrier partners” beginning in 2022.
