Apple Releases Detailed List of Products That Should Be Kept Away From Medical Devices--Here Are They

Apple recently revealed the details of its products that shouldn’t be mixed with medical devices. The magnets found in most gadgets should not be mixed with the latter.

The Cupertino giant claims that electronic devices with magnetic fields and electromagnetic fields could cause interference to medical devices. Magnets and radios are used to power pacemakers and defibrillators, for example. These tools are essential for the sensors.

The American Heart Association (AHA) has previously found that the Apple Magsafe Technology should not spread too far as it can interfere with cardiac implantable devices.

Apple stated that it is important to keep Apple products safe from any medical devices (more than 6 inches/15 cm or more than 12 inches/30 cm if wirelessly charging) to avoid potential interactions.

Magnetic Susceptibility Among Medical Devices

Apple warns that the following products should not be used in conjunction with medical devices. The complete list is here.

A Henry Ford Heart and Vascular Institute team conducted an experiment in January that involved an Apple product. In particular, the iPhone 12. The patient has placed the smartphone over his heart. The patient now has a cardioverter-defibrillator.

The findings show that the device’s capabilities were affected by the process. This raises questions about the effects of the process on medical equipment. In addition, AHA used the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which was found to be extremely susceptible to magnetism.

The tech giant stated in a support article that their products should be not used with magnetic medical devices. The patient should consult their physician as well as the manufacturer of the medical device before doing so.
